Oi! oi! The Blockheads are on tour as part of their 35th anniversary and it still sounds as good as ever! It’s now 12 years since Ian Dury passed away but his legacy lives on in these great live shows. Derek Hussey aka Derek the Drawer is on vocal duties tonight and is on good form, relishing the lyrics and joking with the crowd.

The usual spread of Blockheads fans encompassing all ages are in attendance, although it’s those like me who grew up with the band who are in the majority.

The classic tunes sound great and the newer tunes penned by Derek are in traditional Dury style without being a blatant copy.

There are longer Blockheads reviews on this blog here and here, just catch ’em live and you’ll get why they’re one of my favourite bands.

Peace
