Shapeshifter spend a lot of time on the road but I guess that’s par for the course if you’re a live drum ‘n’ bass act. There’s no new album to promote, their last one “System is a vampire” was re-released in the UK when they signed with drum ‘n’ bass label Hospital Records.

The venue is only about a third full but they put on a relentlessly energetic show. Their five man line up gets a good reception from the up for it Brighton crowd and vocalist Paora Apera aka P Digsss thanks us for coming out to see them on a Wednesday.

Their mix of MPC, samplers, guitar riffs and the pounding drumming of Johnny Hooves coupled with the soulful vocal of P Digsss is a winning combination, great to dance to.

A really good live band with an entertaining set, Shapeshifter are a refreshing take on how drum ‘n’ bass can be presented on stage.
