Great to be able to see The Specials twice in six months, something I never managed to do 30 years ago. I did, however, see them play here at the Brighton Centre in 1980 as part of the Two Tone tour with The Selecter and Madness. 🙂
Of course, it’s the same greatest hits package that I saw in May this year, and from the second their curtain drops we’re off into an insane, bouncing mass of people. Not much more to add to this really, except that I felt their first encore of “Ghost Town” was a bit lacklustre but it had come at the end of a pretty hyperactive show. The fact that hardly anyone in the crowd was moving by the time they did this one was probably due to the fact that everyone was knackered by then rather than it not being any good. 🙂
They came back for a second encore of “You’re wondering now” and that was that. It will be interesting to see if they keep going next year or if this really was the end. They’ve got some dates to go in London, so I guess we’ll just have to see what happens after that.
For a fuller gig review, check out what I wrote about them in May, pretty much the same as last night really. Awesome…
